She is so adorable as she sits and patiently lets mommy take photos of her. She is also itchy. Right under that little chubby neck. She has eczema. Yes, this is where she itches the worst, daily. Poor baby. I just had to photograph her with this cute dress on. We've had wonderful, warm weather all week, but today was a bit chilly so I put a long sleeve under it. I couldn't resist! I have been dying to see her in this little dress. I found it at a local thrift store for 99 cents, a couple of months ago. Not even a dollar! I love the thrift store..I know this little dress would look so much better all by itself, but I couldn't resist. Like Kyree, I couldn't resist the itch. Little cupcake.

I remember the day you were born. I was so scared and didn't know what to expect. The moment I held you, I fell in love. I was in such a state of shock that I didn't even cry. I just stared and studied every part of you. I never felt love like that in my life, and it wasn't until I had your brother and sister that I experienced it again. I couldn't even imagine how you would be and look like when you were three years old. I couldn't wait to hear your voice and the first time you said "mommy". Your first sentence was "bye, bye bubbles" , as we finished up your bath. I almost did cartwheels! It was the best feeling ever! I never imagined that I would make such a celebration out of the smallest moments in life. Even when it came to pooping in the potty. We had a party in the bathroom. You were such a proud pooper. Now here we are. You are seven years old. You have such a big heart and you wear it on your sleeve. You are so funny and love to play pranks just to get a laugh. You are thoughtful and always careful about the things you do. I am such a proud momma to a beautiful soul. You are everything to me and you made me a mother. I love you, son. I love you with every cell and being in my body. Happy Birthday, baby!

Geez! I know, I know. I really have been ignoring my blog. There are just times that I want to live, and not document. Hmm..then there are times that I get 'blog-inspired' and I truly miss it. Weird, I know. This is what I've been doing the last few weeks. Art. I love it. I have been setting up all my paint and I've had paint on my hands almost everyday- love that, too. I've been spending time with my 3 children and just enjoying life. I will say this, I am so ready for Spring! I think the WHOLE world is. Flip-flops, oh how I miss thee!I have a few projects in the works and I hope to share them on here soon. Until then, I am wanting and waiting for more of the sun that we've had today! Do you ever just sit back and think about life and wonder "how is it that I got here?" Your life. The decisions you made. My parents weren't kidding when they said, "it goes by fast, Vivi. Before you know it, you are forty years old." Ha! I thought.
I am not forty just yet, but I do agree that it goes by fast. I feel so blessed that I got to become a mommy. I have always wanted to be a mother- always. I was looking through my photos the other day, photos of me in college, photos of me and my friend Lisa in Florida (having a good old time, I might add!) and I just thought, wow I have chapters that are growing in my book. I have a little story to tell. I found the photos of me in the hospital after giving birth to each of my children. I have to say that those were the proudest and most memorable days of my life (besides meeting Daddy). Sometimes I just stare at them and I think, I am their mother. Me. I have the honor of raising these three beautiful short people. That is so huge and scary and humbling all at the same time. Becoming a parent changes you forever, and I am so honored to be a wife and a mother to this beautiful family. We don't ever want to take any of this for granted. There are times that I don't want to blog and share thought and feelings anymore. Then I look at them and I want them to not only have pictures one day, I want them to look at this blog as a journal for them. A journal that I kept my gratitudes in. I know it will be all worth it just like they are!

Time flies when you're having fun! I just cannot believe that this little booger is going to be 9 months old soon. Really? It seems as if she just came yesterday and at the same time I just can't picture our lives without her. The things she is doing now:

Screaming at the top of her lungs when no one is paying attention to her

I have a cowlick on one side, so every now and then I smooth it down with my hand. I don't like that. The hubby likes it, he said that it looks "purdy". One thing for sure, it's fun to change up your look, isn't it?

Merry Christmas! I am a day late, but we have all been very busy! We had a wonderful time with family and enjoyed the looks on our kid's faces as they unwrapped each present. This was my baby girl's first Christmas and she loved every moment and I think she enjoyed wrapping paper even more! Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday, but I must admit that I am happy to get back to the "normal" mode. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and had lots of laughter and loving moments! Everyone that knows me knows that I love making anything by hand, especially jewelry. For about a decade now I have been making hand beaded jewelry and I've sold some pieces and given pieces to family and friends as gifts. Lately I have been into making stamped sterling siver jewelry. I felt like I needed to take it to the next level with my craft and I absolutely LOVE stamped jewelry! My sister-in-law and I plan on participating in the 'Blue Plum Festival' this June, an annual craft show that goes on here where I live. Whew! I am so excited because it's been a dream to be in one of these. As I create my new "stamped sterling silver pieces' I will let you know the progress. I may even have a seperate blog for that! I am truly excited to be able to grow..expand. It feels so good! Let's get started!

Dollhouse for my Doll Baby~

I love dollhouses, even as a little girl there was just something magical about them! Now I am looking for the perfect one for my daughter. Although, she is just 7 mnths of age, I am too excited to wait any longer! I was thinking of starting her out with a less expensive one, maybe even smaller, just to see how she does. Then we can upgrade as she grows. Some of the dollhouses I've seen are super pricey, and some are more affordable and super ugly! Lol! When I find one, I will have to "brag", I mean "blog" about it! This is so much fun! Let's just hope that she appreciates them as much as mommy does!!!!

What am I thankful for? What a lucky girl I am. I have a wonderful partner in life that I love, whom makes me coffee in the morning. Three beautiful children that keep me busy and make me smile so hard I can hear my heart sing. A mother that calls me almost every day and worries when she doesn't hear from me. A sister that only we understand the type of bond we have. Friends that will do anything to make me smile when I am down. Paintbrushes. The coolest sewing machine (thanx, sis!) A roof over me head. Thankful that I saw another birthday, even though I do a little complaining a few days before ;) I am thankful that I am living! I hope that you have many things to be thankful for! I just wanted to share this photo of these two cuties with you. Look how adorable and lovable my two little boys look. I took this picture early morning when we were visiting my family in Massachussetts about a year ago, as they soundly slept. It's not often that these two are this loving towards one another so I just absolutely treasure this photo. As they often do, they were having an argument today about who gets the last two graham crackers. Of course, mommy stepped in and made them share. My youngest replies ' I hate sharing, sharing is boring'. They get on each other's nerves because they are always together, but they love each other so much. I hope that they remain close as they get older. Maybe not as close as they are in the picture, but close.

This week we went to the doctor's and she had to get 3 shots! I know! 3!!! Each shot was done one at a time. I think I felt the pain more than she did. I hate it! I know it has to get done, but as a mother you just hate to see your children in pain. With my two boys, they would get their shots and be fine for the rest of the day. With Ms. Ky..well, she didn't get so lucky. She just whimpered for about two days :( and talk about napping! She definately caught up on some much needed sleep. This is us a few days later..my happy baby, again. She is always smiling, such a beautiful spirit. She truly shows me the meaning of a 'sweet heart'. She is my Sweet Heart. Isn't she lovely?

Talk about a 'blogging break', huh? The honest truth is that I got lazy. I guess it felt good to just take a break, but I started to miss it! My mother did, too! This is the only way she can see her grandchildren on a regular basis because she lives about 13 hrs away. So, Ms Ky and I decided to have a little photo session. She is getting so big and I have to thank her for the toned arms I've been rockin' lately! She is sitting up and eating baby food (yum...not really). The boys are still very much in love with her, but I don't assume it will stay like this when she starts knocking down the cool roads that they build for their cars! So, we are back! The Last Days of Summer~

Summer is slowly saying its goodbyes and I am going to miss it! I will especially miss these roses that I get to pick from my yard-a fresh bunch weekly. Yeah, I will miss that. However, I am looking forward to the Fall season..especially since one of my favorite friends, Lisa and her family, will be here in the Fall. Whew! They will be visiting in October from my hometown of Massachussetts! I hope you've created as many wondeful memories as we did! It's almost time for pumpkins, ghosts and crunchy leaves..oh my! I cannot believe that I have two children in school. Elijah is in preschool and Judah in first grade. Our mornings are a little crazy, getting them ready to go off and when they leave, it's just three of us. Kyree is only 3 months, so she has MANY naps. Then I find myself having time to do things I didn't have time to do before. By lunch time, I must admit that I miss them, and all the super heroes running through the house! When Elijah gets home (he gets out earlier) I ask him what he did all day. He responds, "I ate lunch." Judah, on the other hand, has a full schedule of "school adventures" and he makes sure we hear them all. My baby Kyree, well, we are definately having more moments to bond. The hubby and I are having complete conversations with limited interuptions! It reminds me of old times...and we are enjoying it! I am so happy that my boys are growing up and becoming more independent (scary sometimes), and it lets me appreciate the moments that we are all together as a family. Change is good.

I love this picture of my husband and our daughter. I took this photo in our kitchen as he was staring and studying her beautiful face. My husband and I have two sons and I ask him how it feels to have a daughter, finally. He told me that he feels more protective of her in a different way than he does the boys. He also said that she will not wear a two-piece bathing suit- ever. I said "ever?" There goes the topic of boys, I guess. He loves this baby girl so much and I love seeing them together. Just like this. The two-piece issue? Ahh..we will have to wait. Until then, let's just enjoy the simpler moments..

I know that I haven't posted in a very long time, but we have been so busy! This summer was one of the best that we've had ever! The boys (and Ms. Ky) have been enjoying themselves so much! Here is the photo of all the kids that were here fo the 'Back 2 School Sleepover'. They look so happy, don't they? They had an awesome time! Games, movies, popcorn..what more could a kid want? I hope that one day I can have all the memories that I have posted on this blog on paper. That is the reason that I blog. I want my children to have all the fun memories with them always. They are so special to me and they make our lives so exciting! We have wonderful friends and family and I am one luck girl! I cannot imagine what next summer will be like when little Ms. Kyree is a bit older to join in all this fun! Now the kids are back to school and these moments have become the memories of life and I get to be part of them. How lucky am I? To the good life!

Where have I been? What have I been up to? Well, let me tell you! You see these three beautiful beings? That's what I've been up to! They have kept me VERY busy...every single day! I haven't had a chance to really even see the computer, never mind blogging! As baby girl naps and boys play, I take the chance! Becoming a mother of three has had its challenges, but I am getting a little more used to the new life. I do miss having the extra time to spend with the boys, because at the moment it is all about baby sister. Let's just say that I am NEVER bored! My husband works most of the time and that leaves me..me against three!! lol! The boys are enjoying their little sister and I love the fact that her little personality is finally starting to show! She loves to smile..especially EARLY in the morning..when mommy is very tired. Of course, I love it! I cannot tell you when I will get a chance to blog again, but I will sure try my hardest! My baby girl is almost 2 weeks old! She is such a good baby..we have yet to hear a "real" cry from her. She is a very laid back baby and today she smiled at daddy and I for the first time! Judah's First Field Day!!!

This was Judah's first field day with his class and he had SO much fun!! Families could also attend and watch the children participate, so, we had to be there! Even though siblings could not participate in the games, Elijah had a good time meeting some of Judah's buddies. We got to eat lunch under a tree with him and then went off to see him play! I can remember how much fun I had on field day! I am glad I got to capture these memories for him!!! Good times...

The other day when we picked our son, Judah, up from school he was so excited to give me my Mother's Day card that he made. He was also holding a little red plastic cup with a single flower in it. The look in his eyes as he gave his gifts to me was priceless. As we got in the car I had a chance to read the card and smell my flower..how precious. I started tearing up because this was my first official Mother's Day gift from one of my children. It just meant so much to me and my husband just sat in the driver seat smiling. I just feel truly honored to be the mother of three wonderful children. They each have their own personalities and they never fail to make me smile throughout the day. I know that this is "my day", but because of them, I am a mother. Even though this role that I have has its challenges, there are so many, many rewards. I am thankful for each day that I get to spend with the three beautiful souls that are my children. I love you, more than you will ever know. Thank you for allowing me to be your mommy.

I am officially 39 weeks pregnant and finally dialated 2 centimeters! The doctor says that if I don't go by this weekend, I will definately be induced on Monday morning! Wow! I am finally there and I have so many emotions running through me! I am certainly excited to meet our daughter because I must know who this little person is that's given me heartburn like no other! I am sure that she will be perfect in every way and her brothers are so very excited to meet her also! I am anticipating seeing my husband with his little girl, how sweet that will be! We are so very ready to meet our sweet addition! After all the complaints, aches and pains- it's over! Okay, I must admit, a little bitter-sweet, but I am ready to say that I am "not pregnant" anymore! I think everyone in my house is ready! With this chapter of our lives coming to an end, we will start another with a beautiful soul coming into the world. We cannot wait to meet you, little one. We've been waiting for you...

This is my son, Elijah (we call him Wawa, or Wawa-Bug) and this is Elijah with a new bulldozer toy. We had a little birthday party for him this weekend and we had a really fun time! We had the sprinklers out and cake and ice cream, and watermelon! Did I mention their Uncle Nino and his crazy "magic" tricks! The boys had a really good time and Elijah received plenty of bulldozers and tractors, etc. He was in "bulldozer heaven"!! His birthday is not until May 1st, but we had an early celebration! Oh, I love him and I love when he is happy! He is happy when he had a bulldozer...such a boy.

Sweet teddies...

The lil' bird cage-candle-holder was originally brown and I spray painted it in a pretty "ocean" blue, and I added an old, long necklace that I wasn't wearing anymore to it. One of my favorites in the room!

I wanted a chandelier for the room, and I will probably still go with that idea in the future, but until then I had these butterflies and decided to hide the ugly lighting with them. Not bad, it looks even better in person..

I found this little vintage suitcase in a thrift store years ago, and it was SO ugly, but I knew that it had potential..well, hey! Spray paint is my best friend and I went crazy blue! Then I added some cute stickers on it. I cleaned the inside and now it holds all her cute hair things!

Since she's a Spring baby, her room needed that feel! I found these cute birds at the craft store, my son fetched me a twig (lol) and Voila! It's our family! Daddy, me, Juju-bug, Wawa-bug, and the soon-to-be, Baby-bug!!!

I"ve already posted about this bench and I painted the lil' blue bird on the wall, she better like birds!

I painted this little girl with rainbow stockings and I just love her! She adds a lot of fun and color to the wall..

Well, here is my baby girl's room. I wanted to post more pics, but I figured you'd get the idea! Things keep changing in here, I keep adding more and coming up with different ideas. It's so much fun! A couple of weeks ago we went to the doctor's to do the 4d ultrasound and we were so excited to get a sneak peak at our baby girl! Well, she obvioulsy thought we were interupting her nap time. She kept her hands in front of her face the whole time and gave us about three yawns. That's all we get? Yawns? So, we didn't get to see her sweet little face, but I guess she's wants to make an unforgetable exit! I went to the doctor's this morning and only to find that I am only 1/2 a centimeter dialated! This is going to be a long process..so, from here on out- IT"S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN! Very excited!!

I know that pregnancy can make you crave a lot of weird things, especially food. I, on the other hand, don't have a particular food that I crave. Well, maybe I prefer to eat fresh fruits more than cooked! But, my craving is a "crave-smell" (I call it). I love Pine Sol! Weird, I know! I had to pour some in an empty bottle, poured some water in there, and shook it up. Now I can Pine Sol everything! I just loooove the smell and any chance I get- I am Pine Sollin' something. I thought I was really strange (okay, I am- a little) until I spoke to one of my friends today and she told me that when she was pregnant she craved the smell of Comet! Whew! Spring is here and I couldn't be happier! I feel like we've had such a long winter, don't you? Being as "big" as I am at the moment, I even managed to paint the toenails. A pretty bright pink and they look very happy. Of course I have a new favorite lip gloss, as well. Cover Girl Wetslicks in Raspberry Splash! I love the hint of color, especially since I am not a lipstick type of girl. Not only the hint of color, but the hint of taste..your significant other will appreciate it, too! Well, just when I've finished the baby's room (finally), my camera decided to act a fool. The hubby and I have tried to upload the pics, but something is definately wrong. It keeps saying that there are no images..so, I guess I will have to wait to show you the finished product. Until then, we have an appointment to have a 4d ultrasound done tomorrow and I am super excited to get a sneak preview of this beautiful baby! I am not sleeping well these days, all I do is toss and turn. I am also trying to get everything organized before she gets here because I have this fear that I will NEVER find the time again! This is my heart. This is my heart on fire. At least that's what is feels like! This didn't start until a few weeks ago and it is absolutely uncomfortable! It doesn't happen everyday, but when it does- you better look out! I've been poppin' Tums and they don't really help. I've tried milk. Nope. I've sat up after eating, still no relief. I keep telling the hubby that I think I am gonna vomit fire. That's what it feels like! Can you tell I am getting to the point in the pregnancy that says, " I am SO over this" ??? Yes. Over it!

This is the baby's room, and what I have been working on lately. I have to admit that I have been taking my time. I just want it to have the feel that I am going for. Nothing to "girly", but definately a girly feel..confusing? I know. So, I found this bench at Target (on clearance!), I had the body pillow already, and purchased the three pillows at Walmart-voila! It's actually pretty comfy! There's been a few changes since this picture was taken. I've added a painting on the wall above this bench and it looks so adorable! Ahh..I just love creating a beautiful space on a budget. It's almost addicting! Okay, okay..enough about the baby room, right? But I MUST keep you updated, and I shall!!

I really wasn't going to blog about this at all, but I decided to at the last minute. I lost my Vovo last week (grandmother) and I had to fly home to be with my family and so I have not been able to blog at all. My Vovo was such a strong woman that moved to America as a grown adult and mother to my mother and my uncle. She became a single mother of two children at the young age of thirty-two after my grandfather passed away. At that moment she then became a mother and a father. She was also an entreprenuer, sister, cousin, and friend. Anyone that knew Vovo, knew that she did NOT take any bull from ANYONE. She was not someone that you would want to mess with. At the same time, she loved her family so very much and it showed in her laughter and the happiness in her eyes. I will miss her so much and I think about her every day. Sweet Idalina, you will always be in my heart. May you rest in peace.

After that, I had to get the album and I love each and every song on there. So much so that I got my friend Olivia hooked. The Secret Life of Bees~

I love, love, love this movie. I just had a very relaxing couch date with my love and we watched "the Secret Life of Bees". Such a beautiful movie about a young girl who escapes a troubled life she had with her father, and ends up staying with three women that end up looking after her. I don't want to give that much away, but if you love a 'feel good movie' then this is the perfect pick for that rainy day. I have to return this movie back in a couple of days, but I will be buying this for me to keep forever and ever! It makes me oh-so-happy!

I FINALLY got the hubby to finish the painting of the living room and I absoultely love it. This room is so calming and there is no television, so you can just have 100% family time..or me time. My camera is not so great, put you get the picture ;) I am still looking for the perfect rug and coffee table, and other little touches here and there. It's a pretty large room so the boys love running through here. We are so grateful to have found our home..we are truly blessed.

My beautiful baby girl will make her arrival late April/early May, so I am now thinking (and thinking) about what her room should look and feel like. I know exactly what I DON'T want and that is pink and pastel colors. I think I am more into brighter blues, greens, and oranges! Most places I've seen only have the pastel choices of decor, so I am going to have to get real creative (oh, the challenge!)..This is going to be so much fun! I have a new addiction-smell (as I call it) and it's the Wild Honeysuckle from Bath and Body Works! I have a tube of the body cream that I grabbed during the Christmas sale for $3 and I am happy I did. I carry it in my bag and since I wash my hands a dozen times in one hour at work, I love applying this stuff on! Even though it's a "body cream", it does the job and can we talk about the smell? I absolutely think it is YUMMY! Everyone else does to because they always ask what kind of scent am I wearing. So there it is..my addiction-smell, Wild Honeysuckle! Yummy!

Okay, I haven't posted anything in a month! My life had been really crazy lately, ya know! We have finally moved into our new house and it's slowly starting to come together. I have also waited to tell everyone (except a few others) that we are expecting another baby. We are so blessed to have two beautiful boys, and we are finally getting a little girl! Letting Go

Life is funny, isn't it? Do you ever feel like just when you have everything aligned something unexpected has to happen? Maybe you just feel like you've never had anything alligned afterall. Yes, I have been there so many times! Sometimes we try to control the things in our lives that are just really uncontrollable. Sometimes we just get to a point when you just feel like you may not know where to go next. Where is your life headed? I think I have a wonderful life, but there are times that I, too, have such questions. I must say that the past few weeks have brought many questions and with those questions- many fears. I am not a very religious person, sort of speak, but I have a relationship with God. The other day, as I was praying for guidance in my life, I came to a realization. Why is it that we try so hard to control things in our lives? Will the outcome be any different or will it be the same? If God loves me, wouldn't He make sure that I am okay? That is when I got it. In order for me to start seeing results in my life, I must learn to give up some control. I need to start trusting in God. Yes, I agree that it would be very hard at times to not worry, but worrying isn't getting me anywhere. That doesn't mean that I must sit around and wait for God to throw wonderful things in my life either. God blessed me with a brain and He will show me wonderful things as I start taking action and responsibility for myself.
I hope that whatever it is that you are experiencing in your life, that you can learn to just let go a little bit- or a lot. God has wonderful things in store for you and the pieces will slowly start to come together. Even in the craziness of it all, we need to step back a little and take a deep breath and remember that God has your back. Please believe.

Imagination~

Isn't it funny to watch your child's imagination expand? They start out by playing with simple toys and before you know it, they are mimicking mommy and daddy. I have two boys and the ONLY toys I ever see laying around are mostly trucks,cars, and bulldozers. In this pic, Juju is playing with his cars and the blocks are the buildings in the city. The city is usually Charlotte because that is the only city they've spent most of their time in. They are serious about their "city". Whenever I play with them they will give me a couple of cars and I drive into the "city" to go shopping. They aren't into the shopping part of it, I guess I am supposed to just make car noises and drive. I've tried playing house with them, but they would rather beat up the teddy bear so nicely wrapped in its blanket. Why so rough? I am definately learning to play more like the boys..I must admit that I really love being a girl! But, whether you have boys or girls, it is good for your child to play and use their imagination. This is when creativity is shaped. So, turn off the television and help your child discover something magical. A place only you guys can go...let your imagination run wild!

I can remember it so clearly. There I am, standing in the aisle of the store deciding on what shampoo and conditioner to buy. All of a sudden I just hear a child screaming at the top of their lungs. This child was having a complete meltdown in the middle of the store, and his mother was just trying to whisper to him in an intense manner. Oh no, I thought. When I have children that would NEVER happen to me. Let my child act that way. I will not play that! How come parents can't control their children in public? Uggh..some parents!
Let's fast forward a few years. There I am..hurrying and quickly trying to pick out shampoo and conditioner, except this time I have a sleepy and hungry toddler in the shopping cart. Because I am taking too long and this has seems to be the longest day-ever, he starts crying and flipping out! I try desperately to calm him down. "Shhh..it's okay, you want juice"? I am trying to find his sippy cup and by now I have people just looking as I go by. I remain calm, but I want to turn to them and say "what, haven't you seen a crying child before"? Of course I just keep on searching for the sippy cup instead and I finally find it and hand it to him. He takes a sip and throws the cup on the floor- while continuing to cry. I quickly realize that this trip will have to be cut short and I hurry up and pay for the few items I have and get the heck out of there!
Those few years ago, the single and care-free me, seem so long ago. Hmm..that would never be me? Not my kid. Yeah. Ahhh...life is full of interesting surprises.

A Family Addiction

I have a confession to make. I have an addiction that runs in the family. We need it every day and I certainly feel like I cannot function without some of it. Okay, it's probably not that exciting of an addiction and you may be addicted as well. That would be COFFEE. Just that word alone says: hope and comfort. Let me tell you something, when I get up in the morning, my day does NOT start without that cup of coffee. Born in the Cape Verde Islands, we didn't necessarily have the bowl of cereal for breakfast plus the glass of orange juice. By the age of two, I was eating a 'real' breakfast and drinking a cup of coffee. After we had dinner, my family would always make the coffee and I was right there with the big dogs. Being the oldest of four children, I must admit that I am the only one that truly has to have it. My siblings just enjoy the smell of it alone. My parents and the rest of the family are just as addicted. I have also found that coffee is very comforting to me. In many stressful situations I feel that the smell is calming (maybe it's because the memories tied to the scent). There is just something that sings in my soul when I meet a fellow coffee lover and they understand and appreciate the Joe. I must tell you that over the years I haven't met many people my age that just truly love coffee. The true lovers are usually a little older than I am, and that is just fine. So to all the coffee lovers out there - drink up! Be proud of the coffee! It has served us well!

I have a beef to pick with toy company advertisers..well, I guess it would be them. For those who have children out there, or are around any children you know exactly what I'm talking about. Every commercial on Nickelodean has it, and maybe every other children's channel. I am talking about the toy commercials. Yeah, the ones that give you the toys with the backround and the music and the kids are so excited about the toy! Ugghh..I mean, some of the commercials look like a scene out of a movie. Then what happens next? Your child is sitting there pointing at the screen, screaming, "I want that!!!!" Isn't that how it happens? Of course I would clean out the store if I got my kids everything they pointed to, but once in a while you do. Then you bring it home in the box, the box with the backround, very similiar to the commercial backround. You help your child open the box (which is another aggravating task in itself) and they get it out and they are so excited! But, it doesn't look the same just sitting on a plain carpet, does it? My boys will play with a new toy like it's a new best friend for about two days and then it joins the "I am so over you" pile. Point? I know that the adverstisers have a job to do (they do it real well), but they are also selling the whole "picture" to the child. I feel like they should show the toy in a realistic setting. The carpet or floor. A child's room.
But, I am just a mother. No matter how they represent the toy, if my kids really want it, I will most likely buy it. Whatever it is they are doing is working, but I just have one suggestion- can we keep it real?

I don't even have to say it, but one word may describe what's on everyone's mind is: economy. Yes, I said it! With the way that things are at the moment I think that everyone is trying to save money any way that can. I know that my family and I are. I actually clipped coupons the other day, and never did I ever think that I would clip coupons! Not that I never wanted to, but rather out of laziness. Now, I am more than happy to clip away! I hope that some of you got to watch the Oprah show the other day. The show had a few families on there and they shared what they did as a family to save money. Tips on cooking frugally and even cutting back on things that they may once thought of as a necessity. There was woman on there that started unplugging all the appliances in her home when they were not in use. Anything from the microwave to the telephone charger. Even the television! If it plugged in, it would be unplugged if not in use. She said that a normal electric bill would be about $200, or so. When she started unplugging everything, the bill was about $80, and $60 was the all time best. I thought that was pretty impressive and my mother and I are trying that for the month. I will definately keep you posted on any of the changes. If there are any other ideas that you guys have out there, then share them! Everyone could use a little help at this difficult time! Hope all is well and things WILL get better.

Weekends with my favorite children~

It's been raining for the last few days and the weekend didn't bring in any sun either..no worries. We found things to do. My wonderful husband let me sleep in (oh yeah) and he fed the boys breakfast, I awoke very well rested and we ate lunch. Grilled cheese and cut up apples. Yummy. Judah then decided to color a picture and glue buttons all over it, and I gladly hung it on the wall(along with his other master pieces). Elijah (who isn't as artistic as Judah is -yet) just gladly played with the buttons in a jar. Pouring them out and filling it back up. Trust me, it kept him busy for a while. Now it is nap time (for Elijah) and quite time for Judah (which he has a hard time doing) and later we are having dinner at my brother-in-law's, which is NEVER boring..very excited. This is us, being lazy and hanging out...Well, we really do have a reason to do nothing at all. Judah is in school now and I have been working more and between everything else we are searching for a place to call our little home. Although exciting as it is, it is very exhausting..thank goodness for my realtor, Kristy. She is the bomb! I can call her with about 5 or 100 houses and she is willing to go at anytime and look. She is also just a good person and makes this emotional roller coaster, we call house-hunting, really fun. I think we will stay friends..he,he. For the first time ever in the history of my life, I am so excited about an election! I am certainly not one for politics, but this year that has changed! Barack Obama has become the first African- American to lead a major party's ticket for president of the United States (in case you haven't heard) and I am so excited! I love watching the Mr. and Mrs. Obama together, they just seem like a "real" family to me and that is just something you don't see much of when it comes to politicians. I know like a lot of you out there, I AM READY FOR CHANGE! I wanted to post this today because today is the day that Martin Luther King Jr. made his very famous " I have a dream" speech and will also be the day that Barack Obama will accept the Democratic Nomination at the National Convention in Denver. Forty-five years ago King made that speech and here we are today witnessing the first African-American running for president. I truly feel honored to be part of history and I am so glad that my children will experience this in their own little way. I hope that you all will watch tonight because you will be witnessing part of history! I am so excited and I hope you are just as excited for this election!

Here we are in late August and the end of summer is in the air. Ya know what's funny? I've spoken to a few people and we've all come to an agreement that summer seemed like it flew by! I don't think I can really recall a Spring. There were a few really hot days, but I just feel like it went so fast! Since my oldest has started school, I do make sure to do something fun during the weekends. When he was home it seemed like a weekend everyday..so, I think he is learning to appreciate the days that he has nothing to do, but play! So, as we wrap the summer time up, let's enjoy it and spend time with our loved ones. Run through the grass, do a cartwheel, whatever it is that you want to do- enjoy! I found this double-placked belted coat (the brown one) at Gap.com and the black short sleeve peacoat for under $100! They are so HOT they are bound to keep you warm! What I love about these coats is that even if I have on a regular tee shirt and jeans, you can put one of these on and go- Voila, automatic hot mama!! They have many more selections, but these were my favorite!!! How cute are they?

Poopin' Problem

Okay, I may need someone's help out there. You see, I have a pooping problem. Well, maybe not me personally, but my 3 year old does. We have been potty-training him for a couple of months now, and he's doing really well with the pee-pee part of it all, but he will not do the number two on the potty whatsoever!! It's like he is afraid to let it all out in there and the diaper is more secure for him. He will even hold it until his belly starts to hurt, and he still sleeps with the diaper on and so he will take advantage and poop. It has got to the point where I can tell he has to do it and I will put a diaper on him just so he will go. I just don't like to see him uncomfortable. I've even offered rewards if he will go, and he will ask the reward if he goes pee and I tell him he can only get a reward if he poops- still, nothing is working! I've never had this problem with my first son, and so I figured it wouldn't be this difficult!! Is there anyone out there that can give me some advice because at this point I am willing to try anything! Hopefully we can solve this pooping problem very soon! Thanks, everyone!

I never thought this time would come so soon! My baby is starting school and I just cannot believe it!! It seems like we just brought him home from the hospital. He is being a little shy about the whole thing. Actually, he's being A LOT shy! Every time I bring the "school is fun" subject up he says "No, I hate school"! I know that he is entering into the "unknown" and it can be a little scary, but it's about that time!!! I think I am more nervous than he is! I am going to have just one child at home for the day, and I just can't imagine that anymore. A lot of people have let me know that I am going to enjoy it. I guess I will, once I get used to his life in someone else's hands!!! I am proud of him, though! My baby is growing up....oh, how time flies.

I had to look for something to inspire me and maybe inspire you, too. I am telling you that these last couple of weeks have definately tested me like I haven't been tested in a long time. I thank God for my family because they have been so supportive in all this craziness!!! My kids, of course, provide me with so many belly-hurting laughs and that helps me forget all that is negative or should I say- the unknown. My good friend, Nicey, has been there for me 100% since day one of my accident. The girl called me at the scene! She calls me everyday to make sure I am okay and that means so much to me and she had no idea how much I appreciate that! The kids both have fevers (again) and this time they BOTH have it at the same time!! I have been very busy- lots and lots of hugs and kisses! I have to keep that in mind, that sometimes you must go through tough times in order to appreciate all that is good! My friend Nicey and I had a good conversation last night, and she said to me "this too, shall pass". I will hold on to that!!! Well, I am glad that I am starting to drive the car with a little more confidence! But, let me tell you that my back is hurting like never before! Ya know, one of those very uncomfortable, annoying aches? I have to lay down flat on the floor for a while to see if that helps..nope. Then I move on to stretching..that may help a little but I think I may have to see a chiropracter! I must continue to be optomistic and move on with life and hopefully within time I will feel better. Today is a sunny and good day and I am going to enjoy it! I am alive afterall, right?

I want to wish my beautiful husband, Kochies, a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I want to let him know that he is such a wonderful person and it has been such a honor to be his wife and the mother of our two beautiful boys. Kochies, I love you so much and I want to thank you for believing in all my dreams, whether big or small. We are such a team and I cannot wait to spend the next 32 years with you! We got together when I was twenty years old and he was twenty-one and these years have flown by! I guess that's what happens when you're having fun! You are the most tender-hearted person that I have ever met and you have taught me so much about life. I don't take you or the life that we have together for granted and you have truly made me a happy woman. It's amazing to see you with our children, because those are the moments that make me fall more in love with you. I still have that "crush" and I don't think it will ever go away! I love you and your boys love you, and what an example of a man they will model themselves after! Thank you for being you. I LOVE YOU, BABY!

Well, today my sister-in-law will be picking up the boys and they will spend the night with their little cousins. I will miss them, but I have to tell you that I definately need the break. After the kind of week I've had, I am happy to have some "alone time". You know what's funny? I will love the alone time, yes, but I am not used to them not being here. Then I will start missing them, but I have to get over it and enjoy the time I have for myself. I don't usually get a break from doing the mommy thing, and when I do (once in a blue moon) I feel kind of guilty about it. But, I will say that as time passes, the more I start to appreciate it. Everyone needs a little break from time to time! I may not be doing it exactly how the girl in the photo is, but I will sure feel like that! Hope everyone is having a wonderful day and to all the moms- take a day for yourself. You deserve it and it will make you appreciate your family even more. Now, let's see what I will do tonight...

I haven't posted in the last couple of days because I got into a car accident on Sunday night, but I am okay. My beautiful and lovely mini van got totaled- BUT, that is not what is important! I just wanted to come home from the hospital and hold my children. It was pretty scary and for those that have been in a crash know exactly what I mean. I am so happy that I have such wonderful friends and family that truly care for me and have made it so obvious- THANK YOU...they know who they are. I am still a little shook up, but life must go on and I need to get back out there again. I am a little nervous about it, but I know that I will get used to driving again and overcome those fears, eventually. My husband has been so wonderful! He has been taking care of the kids and he just wants me to lay back and relax. This experience has just made me so much more appreciative of the people I have in my life. Life is a wonderful thing, don't sweat the small stuff- you never know what tomorrow may bring! The kids are outside with daddy and I am going to relax! Have a safe and good day!

Sick in the Summer~

What is going on? Summer is supposed to be a fun time and this week I've had to deal with two sick boys. A few days ago my youngest was vomiting and had a fever for about 24 hours. Luckily it was a quick one and he was back to his wild little self again. Here we go again with my oldest! He hasn't vomited, but he does have a high fever, and he just wants to lay on the couch and watch Nick. Poor baby. I just feel so helpless when my children get sick, like any parent. What makes matters worse is that he will not take ANY medication, whatsoever. I am just providing him the juice and LOTSA love! I hope he gets better soon, back to his wild little ways!

Alright, ya'll!! The sun is FINALLY shining today and it is beautiful outside! That can only mean one thing! Time for a delicious sunrise-celebration- drink! Oh yeah! So, invite the girls (or the guys) over and pretend ya know what you're doing! This is so easy that you can..and by the way, this drink is non-alcoholic. That doesn't mean you cannot add a little spice to it *wink*. So go ahead and kick your feet up, and enjoy this delicious strawberry drink..YUMMY!

You will need:1 8-oz. carton Light Vanilla yogurt
1/2 cup frozen whole strawberries
1/4 cup apple juice
1 frozen banana, chopped

In a blender, combine yogurt, stawberries, juice and banana.
Cover and blend until smooth. Makes 2 glasses.

Oh my goodness! I remember one of my old posts and I was talking about rain and how rain allows us to reflect. It allows us to slow down and take a breather. Well, I AM SO OVER IT! I mean, I love the rain, don't get me wrong..but, geez Louise. This is enough, Lord. It has been raining all week. All week. There is only so much you can do with the kids, ya know? There is only so many pictures you can paint, so many movies you can watch, and so many games you can play. To tell you the truth, I am just tired of the clouds and the darkness. Give me sun. Lord, give us sun! Whew!! I am so glad to get that off my chest. I am going to relax and paint. I am going to try to be very patient and I will pray that tomorrow will bring the sun. Goodnight.

There goes the Fireworks!

Our 4th of July started out so wonderfully. We ate, played and spent time with family. Wonderful. Then came time for the fireworks. They have been talking about fireworks all week. I finally decided to pick a spot on the lawn and we sit and wait. POP!!!! There goes a beautiful one! All of a sudden my youngest flips out like he just saw the scariest thing, ever!!! Then there goes my oldest!!! I have two screaming children that want me to hold them...Oh.My.Goodness. I had to go back into the house to calm them down, and needless to say, there goes the fireworks! They begged me to go home. Even the trip to the car made them paranoid and as the fireworks kept going, the faster they moved. Yah. The image I used is one I found of another child, but so closely resembels their faces when the fireworks went off. Hope everyone had a good 4th and I hope you ALL enjoyed the fireworks! Well, there's always next year :)

My sister attended her friend's baby shower and they served a dish that she just had to tell me about! At first it sounded a bit strange, but my sister thought it was absolutely delicious and that can only mean one thing -I must try it! I haven't made it just yet, but I am going to. I wanted to share the recipe with you all and if you try it- please let me know how it turns out. Of course my recipes are always easy (the only ones I can handle!). You need the following:
1. 1 package of Kielbasa (or hot dogs, whatever you have handy)
2. 1/2 bottle of ketchup
3. 1/2 bottle of grape jelly (i know)

First you will need to cut the Kielbasa up, throw that in the pan and saute just a little. Then you will pour the ketchup in there, continue to saute. Slowly add the grape jelly in there, and let everything groove!! Remove the Kielbasa, let the ketchup and grape jelly in the pan just a bit longer. Pour that over the Kielbasa. Serve. Just in case- if you use two packages of Kielbasa, use the whole bottle of ketchup & grape jelly.
I promise you that my sister absolutely loved it, and she said the guests obviously loved it because it didn't last long! Mmmmm...I am going to give it a try! Why not? Everything you need is probably in your fridge right now.
