As a mother there are plenty of times that I have tried to do it all. Cook, clean, laundry-the list goes on and on. After breakfast the boys play and watch "yo- gaba-gaba", which by the way has some magical powers that keep them tuned in (I truly believe),then before you know it- it's lunch time.
After lunchtime they both go down for a nap(for my four year old it's more like down-time, he's so over the nap thing). This is around the time that I am usually trying to catch up with "other stuff".
Dishes, picking the same annoying toys up over and over (thank goodness batteries eventually run out), and doing other things that must get done. By this time I too am tired. I feel like I need a time out. But, why is it that I feel guilty? It's a mom thing? I bet you dads don't feel guilty..why should we?

So I did it. I let the dishes lay in the sink, toys stayed on the floor, and I took a NAP! I took a 30 minute nap and ya know what? It felt good and I did not feel guilty-not one bit! Guess what? The dishes still got done and the toys were picked up and I felt so much more refreshed and energized!
So why is it, as moms, that we feel guilty when it comes to doing the nice things for ourselves? What are we teaching our children by doing this? Don't take care of yourself?
We as humans have needs and if those needs are not met by getting rest- then go on and do it!
You may not becoem super mommy, but you'll be a more energized one! At the same times, you are showing your little ones that you love yourself enough to be nicer to you!
Grab a pillow and rest a while..

I totally agree! I just recently started taking Corbin's morning nap with him. For a long time I cleaned, tried to get myself ready, do homework....ya know "get ahead". I have realized that little nap really helps, and I can get all the other stuff done later. Moms really need their sleep to function at their best. So no...don't feel guilty, it is a good thing, I am with ya all the way!! Love the blog, it is great!!

I am a dad and I leave the dishes. My wife seems to expect me to clean them right away because she does. Do I need to feel guilty....NO! Why feel guilty? There is no need and more moms need to rest awhile. You guys do alot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GO MOMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is so crazy that you posted this.....last night I was just telling Rick that I always get tired around 1:00 when Kylen goes down for a nap, but I feel guilty b/c thats when I should be getting other stuff done.....well that's it!!!! I'm taking a nap next time!
