Okay, I may need someone's help out there. You see, I have a pooping problem. Well, maybe not me personally, but my 3 year old does. We have been potty-training him for a couple of months now, and he's doing really well with the pee-pee part of it all, but he will not do the number two on the potty whatsoever!! It's like he is afraid to let it all out in there and the diaper is more secure for him. He will even hold it until his belly starts to hurt, and he still sleeps with the diaper on and so he will take advantage and poop. It has got to the point where I can tell he has to do it and I will put a diaper on him just so he will go. I just don't like to see him uncomfortable. I've even offered rewards if he will go, and he will ask the reward if he goes pee and I tell him he can only get a reward if he poops- still, nothing is working! I've never had this problem with my first son, and so I figured it wouldn't be this difficult!! Is there anyone out there that can give me some advice because at this point I am willing to try anything! Hopefully we can solve this pooping problem very soon! Thanks, everyone!

well, as I had to find out, every child is different. My first was trained by 2, my second will be 3 in Nov and just recently got the hang of it!!I really believe its something that has to click for them, and that takes a lot of patience on our behalf, lol, but I would continue talking to him and being consistent, and he'll get it! If he isn't going for the reward system...he just isn't ready, and thats ok!hang in there...sorry!
Jaylin had the same problem! I had to put her on medicine to soften hers, b/c she would hold it in so much that it became hard and then she was afraid to go. All it takes is one bad experience with pooping to make them stop going. The medicine she was on was prescribed but is now over-the-counter, It's called Miralax, maybe if he has some to soften it, it will help him go easier in the potty. But it definitely isn't uncommon for kids to not want to poop in the potty, only pee...... not sure why. Well good luck!

I don't have children but I asked my cousin who has 2 kids. She said to put him on the pottie and read him a book and I thought maybe reading him his favorite book would help :)
Good luck-CHOP! CHOP! LOL

This is very common for kids that are starting to potty train. Does he poop in a certain spot of your house in his diaper? I have heard of people moving the potty to that area to get them used to pooping on the potty. Do you flush it down the toilet even if he has gone in his diaper? This will show him where it goes and help understand. The pooping part is the hardest part for most kids and it just takes a lot of patience. He will get it before you know it!!
thanks sooo much for all your advice and i will try them, and definately just be patient! hopefully within time, something will work! thanks ya'll!!!
